    services:
    Tree Removal
Tree removal may be required for many reasons, especially when a tree has become a hazard to people or property.

    The following are examples:

    Decayed trunk or root rot

    Storm damaged trees

    Dead, dying, or diseased trees

Trees with cracks or splits in trunks or crotches

    Trees outgrowing a safe area

    Pruning or Trimming:
Properly maintained trees add great value to your property which increases every year. Pruning or Trimming can improve your trees in many ways.

    These include:

    Elevating lower limbs.

Thinning for light and wind filtration.

Eliminating weight at end of limbs to prevent splitting or limb failure

Mistletoe removal (Parasite that will kill tree if left unchecked)

    Thinning for visibility

Shaping of ornamental trees, shrubs and hedges
      Demossing return to top
Moss will not usually harm a healthy tree but sometimes must be removed or thinned out if large amounts accumulate. When removing moss our company will hand pick the moss out. It is best to only remove a percentage off moss rather that all of the moss at one time which will do more harm than good. This method provides immediate results unlike spraying which takes some time for the moss to eventually fall out.

    Stump Grinding
Stump grinding is the best and most economical way to get rid of your stump below grade. We have several stump grinders ranging in size depending on the size and location of your stump.

    Root Pruning return to top
Root pruning is used to prevent roots from growing into and uplifting driveways, walkways and foundations. It is also used on construction sites to protect the trees from damage from crushing, ripping or compaction in non-protected site areas.

    Fertilization
Trees often require fertilization at some point in there life span. Lawns and landscaping usually absorb the majority of fertilizer that is broadcast. Deep root feeding places these nutrients below the surface where the root hairs can easily absorb these important elements. We inject these into the soil in a grid pattern to maximize coverage of the root system. Sick trees or trees in decline may require several applications per year.

    Land Clearing
Ranging from small lots to large commercial sites our crews are able to handle any size clearing job. There are many advantages in using our company for clearing rather than large equipment.

    24 Hour Emergency Service
We have crews standing by 24 hours a day for emergency situations. Whether it’s a local severe thunderstorm, lightning strike, tropical storm, or hurricane we are able to respond immediately. Our crews specialize in hazardous and dangerous tree removal.

    Consulting return to top
Our arborists are well trained and experienced to recognize, diagnose, and treat trees that have developed problems or have become a hazard. Inexperienced observers often think that they have encountered a serious problem when, in fact the “symptom” is only normal.

Common symptoms that may be a problem include:

    Leaf Chlorosis

    Leaf Scorch

    Wilting

    Defoliation

    Dieback

    Epicormic Shoots

About Mid-Florida Tree Service

about us:
Mid-Florida Tree Service was founded back in 1976 by former president Byron Lee Jones, at the age of 40. After being laid off from working at the ship yard in Tampa he decided to venture off on his own and start his own business. Byron didn’t have much at the beginning just an old pick-up truck, a hand saw, and 3 employees. The third employee was his 16-year-old son Tim Jones.  He set out looking for jobs in the Tampa area. That was 30 years ago, and his business prospered steadily from the beginning.

There were occasional tough times but he quickly learned that if he gave the customer more than they expected and did everything as a professional he would survive. Byron never took one customer for granted and was an incredibly honest and fair man. His motto was, “treat every customer as if they were your only customer,” and that was the foundation our company was built on.

The business continued to grow through the late 70’s, 80’s, & 90’s.  Throughout those years Byron and his son Tim worked together building the company into what it is today, not to say that they didn’t run into the occasional obstacle to overcome. In 2000 the founder Byron Jones retired and transferred the company to his son Tim Jones.

Over the past 15 years our business has earned a well known reputation for the humanitarian efforts and charity work we’ve contributed to our area. We have worked hand and hand with numerous municipalities throughout the Tampa Bay Area assisting homeowner’s that are less fortunate with hazardous and dangerous tree removal or just to bring their property up to code standards.

After the hurricanes that devastated parts of Florida in 2004, FEMA contacted our company with interest in hiring us for emergency work. They informed us that we were the largest privately owned tree service in the Southeastern United States based on our number of employees.

Though our company has expanded over time, we still remain a family affair.  Over 10 of our employees have been with the company for nearly 20 years. Many years have passed now; however our efficiency, politeness, and professionalism have not.  We go all-out to encourage customer satisfaction to become a part of our employee’s desire
