In Phase 1 you will answer a series of questions with one of our Client Care Specialists or on our web site.
Your answers will let us to learn about your existing landscape, what you want for your new landscape and what’s most important to you.
Phase 2 – Analysis
In Phase 2, one of our Certified Landscape Technicians will meet with you to discuss your plans and actually see your landscape.
We will discuss your design ideas, desired time-line and your designated budget for your landscape project. We will also take several digital photographs of your property for design reference.
We will assess various facets of your existing landscape such as soil quality, elevation, the slopes and shape of your property, enhancing views, privacy concerns, sun and shade conditions, hiding unsightly eye-sores, the directional orientation of your home as well as color and texture of your home’s exterior in proportion to your landscape.
If you will require formal architectural plans for your landscaping project, one of our Professional Landscape Designers will also meet with you. Having both our Technician and Designer meet with you will help us understand your sense of your style, preferences and make any recommendations before drafting your architectural plans.
This will also be a time we will answer all of your questions regarding your landscape and about our company in general.
At the end of your Landscape Analysis, we will set up a second appointment to present you with your Landscape Project Proposal and delivery your customized Landscape Design.
Your entire Landscape Analysis fee is only $97.
Landscape Design
At Natural & Relaxing Landscapes, LLC we offer two levels of design to our clients --- complimentary and fee-based. Your choice of our Complimentary Landscape Design or our fee-based Professional Landscape Design services will depend on your own preferences and the size and type of landscaping you want done.
At the time of your Landscape Analysis, together we will decide whether or not formal architectural plans are necessary. If not, you can avail yourself of our Complimentary Design Service.
Complimentary Design
With our Complimentary Design service, one of our Expert Landscape Technicians will personally hand-sketch your landscape design after your Landscape Analysis has been completed and we know exactly what you want to have done.
With many levels of landscaping, we have found that our hand-sketched, Complimentary Design service is sufficient and we can still get brilliant results. In fact, every client who has taken advantage or our Complimentary Design service has been thrilled with their landscape!
Please know, however, that some types of landscaping are more intricate an undertaking than others. In this event, a set of formal architectural plans will be necessary using our Professional Landscape Design service.
Your Complimentary Design will be delivered to you during our second appointment when we also present you with your Landscape Project Proposal.
Professional Landscape Design
Our Professional Landscape Design is a fee-based service where a Professional Landscape Designer will craft a set of formal architectural plans.
The fee for this service starts at $1,200 and can increase depending on the size of your landscape and the number of times you wish to make changes to your design plans. We will collect your $600 deposit on your preliminary landscape design plans during your Landscape Analysis.
Here’s how it works:
I. During Phase 2 of your Landscape Analysis, one of our Professional Landscape Designers will accompany an Expert Landscape Technician in this getting-acquainted session.
II. During your second appointment, you will be presented with your preliminary design plans as well as a written proposal for your landscaping project. We will discuss any changes that may need to be made to the design. If necessary, we’ll go back to the drawing board until you are holding the plans to the landscape of your dreams in your hands.
Typically we find that unless you completely change your mind for the direction you want to go in with your landscape, one re-work on your plans --- maybe two --- is all that is necessary.
If it is necessary, we will set up additional appointments to present you with any changes made to your Landscape Project Proposal and/or Professional Landscape Design plans.
III. Once you’ve decided on your final design plans, you will pay the remaining balance due on your Professional Landscape Design. From that point we will proceed with
We recommend our Professional Landscape Design service to anyone who either has a preference towards having formal architectural plans in-hand prior to proceeding with the installation of their landscape, or to anyone whose vision of a landscape includes going far above and beyond the average yard.
For example, if your thoughts are of……
A grandiose waterfall that cascades off into your new swimming pool
Japanese theme garden with wetlands, koi fish and bridges or
The ultimate living space complete with outdoor kitchen and wet bar, stone fireplace and plenty of cushy seating topped off with made-just-for-you, rust-free copper shade panels that cast gorgeous shadows and light patterns down onto your new flagstone patio……
In this case we strongly recommend a Professional Landscape Design.
Acceptance of Landscape Project Proposal -
Once you have decided that you want us to install your landscape, you are happy with your design and proposal and everything fits in your budget, it is time to accept your Landscape Proposal by signing the agreement. Next we will collect your required deposit so that we can begin ordering materials for your landscape project. We accept cash, check, Visa, MasterCard or American Express cards.
We will set a specific start date for your landscape project, which is typically a minimum of two weeks --- unless you need it sooner, in which case you can pay additional fees for our premium “Rush” installation service.
We will also provide you with the exact number of days we’ll need to complete your project. Remember that timing is very important to us and we are going to get your job done on time (excluding any weather delays) or else your entire landscape is free.

Landscape Maintenance
The investment you’ve put into your landscape will need to be continually maintained and developed. Mother Nature never rests in reclaiming what is hers, and in a short time you could be left starting over from the beginning if you do not care for your new landscape properly.
Our goal is to benefit you by offering services that make maintaining your landscape as hands-off and convenient as possible.
Natural & Relaxing Landscapes, LLC is a full-service, Colorado-based landscaping firm providing landscape analysis, design, installation and maintenance for home owners in the surrounding Denver areas.
My name is Matt Henry. Together, my wife Jina and I founded Natural & Relaxing Landscapes, LLC in August 2006 (a recent name change from “Natural Surroundings Treescapes & Waterfalls”).
Our recent re-branding reflects our growth and maturity as a company, and because it is what you desire the most.
What do I mean?
You see, 97% of of our clients, you, ask us to create a “natural” look.
Then, everyone says they want their landscaped area to be a nice, quiet place where they could just sit back and “relax”.
And since we give you exactly what you want, when choosing our new name, the words “natural” and “relaxing” seemed to be an obvious fit and the best choice. And voilà --- “Natural & Relaxing Landscapes, LLC” was born!
So how did we get our start landscaping to begin with? What does a small-town New Mexican boy have to offer you that’s different from ALL other landscape companies --- and why should you care about any of it?
I'll share all of this and more with you as you decide which landscape contractor will create your landscape masterpiece because …
I want you to know what drives this company and how you will benefit by choosing our company to do your landscaping project!
My original love for working in and beautifying the outdoors began when I was just a wee-young-lad working for my father’s landscape company in the small desert town of Alamogordo, New Mexico --- home to Holloman Air Force Base and White Sands National Monument.
After graduating High School and leaving home, I had a strong desire to lead my own business ventures to get out there and see if there was anything else I had a passion for doing besides landscaping. Since the age of 18, I have had businesses selling my services in construction and home building, carpet cleaning, carpet installation, striping cars, residential, commercial and construction cleaning, installing and striping asphalt parking lots, and laying tile.
There are a few more ventures I tried that may be a bit too embarrassing to mention here…like the time my friend Zach and I thought we were going to make a business out of trekking through the mountains, finding fallen deer antlers and turning them in for money. I invested $400 and got back $135. Now there’s something I can get a good laugh from every time I think about it!
I guess you can say I am a die-hard entrepreneur. I have always lived my life doing the things that I love and have followed my passions, which eventually lead me back to landscaping.
After getting married I settled down into a “real job” working as a landscaper for the Alamogordo City Parks & Recreation department. While there I mastered the art of planting, pruning and irrigation.
This is when I realized how much I loved the art of landscaping. I still remember the day I was given my first median to design. The Yucca plants I shaped turned out gorgeous and I consistently received many compliments on my work. By the way, if you’re ever in Alamogordo you can see “MY” median on the corner of Indian Wells and White Sands Boulevard!
In 2001, I got my start in the Colorado landscape market 2001 working for a local Denver landscape company. Over the next several years, I mastered the art of creating the most magnificent, mountain-like waterfalls and ponds in Parker's exclusive "Pinery" Covenant.
Coming to Colorado after living in the desert for the first 27 years of my life, I immediately fell in love with the lush landscape, mountains and the mild temperatures, beauty, color and rugged yet delicate terrain that is uniquely Colorado.
I look forward to creating your Landscape Masterpiece so that you can have a natural and relaxing outdoor area at home.
